Hazard Community and Technical College invites applications for our part-time adjunct faculty pool for Lean Operations, Introduction to Quality Systems, Operations Management and Fundamentals of Mechatronics. This position is considered a temporary, part-time position used to fill both online and in person courses.

Applicants accepted for online course assignments will be required to complete a Faculty Certification Training Program for Online Instructors and meet (online or in-person) with a member of the distance learning staff.  When a position is available, qualified applicants may be contacted for an interview and asked to submit further documentation.

Courses may included-

QMS 101                    Introduction to Quality Systems                              3 credits
Students are introduced to fundamental concepts, principles, and practices used to improve quality in organizations.  The need for organizational change is reviewed and paradigms of quality are introduced.  An overview of areas of change, methods of quality planning, and methods for implementing quality policies are provided. Students will practice problem solving techniques, make decisions based on data, work in teams, troubleshoot, and demonstrate knowledge of implementing continuous improvement processes. 

QMS 220        Quality Audits                       3 Credits
Involves an in-depth examination of the function of planning, organizing, and conducting quality audits. Emphasizes planning, implementing, and reporting results of quality audits and taking corrective action.

MFG 175 Lean Operations
Introduces students to the principles and practices of lean operations.  Employs a lean simulation and examples from Toyota and other lean practitioners to introduce students to lean practices.  Discusses Total Productive Maintenance.

MFG 135 Fundamentals of Mechatronics
Introduces the student to the basics of Mechatronic systems and the operation of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic/hydraulic, and Programmable Logic Control components in an advanced manufacturing system.  Combines basic operational and analytical skills with critical thinking and applied troubleshooting. Teaches the students to troubleshoot a multitude of problems involved in typical electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.

Duties will include but may not be limited to:

• Plans and carries out instruction, instructional activities and prepares learning materials.
• Provides instruction to students in the above listed areas of Manufacturing Engineering Technology.
• Prepares lesson plans (as needed) and maintains records and reports on student attainment, attendance/activity and progress.
• Utilizes approved online course templates and syllabus format, maintains, classroom order and discipline.

 Bachelor and/or master’s degree preferred with a minimum two years work experience in the field. Alternatively to a bachelor’s and master’s degree, faculty could have a minimum of two years work experience in the field with appropriate current credential or certification OR faculty could have an associate degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline OR faculty could have a credential from a vocational/technical school and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline OR faculty could have a secondary occupational certificate in the field OR faculty could have documented work experience OR experience equivalents may be evaluated by peers in the profession to ensure competencies of the faculty members.
