Adjunct Faculty - Fundamentals of Machine Tool, Metrology and Control Charts, Manual Programming, CAD/CAM/CNC

Hazard Community and Technical College invites applications for our part-time adjunct faculty pool for Fundamentals of Machine Tool, Metrology and Control Charts, Manual Programming, CAD/CAM/CNC.  This position is considered a temporary, part-time position used to fill both online and in person courses.

Applicants accepted for online course assignments will be required to complete a Faculty Certification Training Program for Online Instructors and meet (online or in-person) with a member of the distance learning staff.  When a position is available, qualified applicants may be contacted for an interview and asked to submit further documentation.

Courses may include-

CMM 110                   Fundamentals of Machine Tools-A             3 credits
Provides the basic principles needed for a solid foundation in machine tool technology. Covers shop safety, bench work, drill press, power saw, measurement, and mills. 

CMM 112                   Fundamentals of Machine Tools-B             3 credits
Provides the basic principles needed for a solid foundation in machine tool technology. Includes shop safety, bench work, drill press, power saw, measurement, and lathes.

CMM 118                   Metrology/Control Charts               2 credits

Provides the basic principles in using precision measurement instruments and their application to inspection and quality control.

CMM 130                   Manual Programming                      3 credits
Introduces the student to CNC codes and programming, set-up and operation of CNC machine tools. 

CMM 132       CAD/CAM/CNC                  3 credits
Introduces the student to CAD/CAM/CNC systems which includes CAM software.

Duties may include, but not be limited to:

  • Plans and carries out instruction, instructional activities and prepares learning materials.
  • Provides instruction to students in the above listed areas of Manufacturing Engineering Technology. 
  • Prepares lesson plans (as needed) and maintains records and reports on student attainment, attendance/activity and progress.
  • Utilizes approved online course templates and syllabus format, maintains, classroom order and discipline.

 Bachelor and/or master’s degree preferred with a minimum two years work experience in the field. Alternatively to a bachelor’s and master’s degree, faculty could have a minimum of two years work experience in the field with appropriate current credential or certification OR faculty could have an associate degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline OR faculty could have a credential from a vocational/technical school and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline OR faculty could have a secondary occupational certificate in the field OR faculty could have documented work experience OR experience equivalents may be evaluated by peers in the profession to ensure competencies of the faculty members.

Please detail experience using Blackboard (or similar learning management system) and teaching online.
