Electrical Construction Adjunct Faculty

This is a ten-month, adjunct faculty appointment in the Trades Division. The primary teaching assignment is for the BCTC Georgetown campus. The position will report to and work directly with the division Assistant Dean. The position requires flexibility of scheduling, which may include evenings, weekends, and a variety of campus locations. This position will require the ability to work mid-day and evenings as needed.

Duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Classroom, online and laboratory instruction related to Electrical Technology in construction as well as industrial environment including but not limited to A.C and D.C Electrical Concepts and Fundamentals, Construction Wiring, Electric Motor Controls, and Fluid Power.
  2. Provides instruction to students in both theory and practice of the various aspects of Electrical Technology and related subject areas.
  3. Prepares lesson plans, maintains records, and reports on student attainment and progress.
  4. Willing to participate in Professional Development Activities
  5. Develop and maintain working relationship with local industry(s)
  6. Set example of appropriate dress and professional behaviors for students
  7. Enforce high expectations related to safety, student dress, and professional behaviors including punctuality - respect for leadership – teamwork – written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Maintain order and discipline in the teaching/learning environment
  9. Understand and implement workplace organization (5s) standards
  10. The ability to teach the National Electrical Code class.
  11. The ability to maintain class materials available, get price quotes for parts and materials needed for the classes.
  12. The ability to teach Rotating Equipment.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Associate Degree and 3-5 years’ experience in the teaching discipline or related field
  • Electrician license or Master Electrician License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the teaching discipline or related field and three years of work experience in the teaching discipline or related field.
  • Successful candidate should possess excellent computer and communication/presentation skills in order to develop and deliver online program-related courses, and in-person laboratory experiences.
  • Should have actual work experience as an electrician.
