#A006 (F2020) Humanities Adjunct Pool - First Year Experience (FYE)

The Humanities Department of Jefferson Community and Technical College has openings for First Year Experience (FYE) Adjunct Instructors to teach all levels of First Year Experience (FYE).  The primary responsibilities of these positions are to teach courses, maintain some office hours for mentoring and coaching students, success and retention activities, and utilization of a learning management system such as Blackboard for communication and feedback. These positions may teach on any of Jefferson’s campuses.

 

Please note that this is an adjunct pool.    We will only contact applicants as needed for classes.  

The primary responsibilities of the position are to teach FYE 105 “Achieving Academic Success” courses, maintain office hours for mentoring and coaching students, success and retention activities, and utilization of a learning management system such as Blackboard for communication and feedback.   Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Training – required prior to teaching
  • Lesson Planning
  • Utilizing college technology (email, Blackboard, Student Self Service (Peoplesoft))
  • Completion of all required reporting (learning outcomes assessment and reporting, instructor surveys, no-shows, grades, etc.)
  • Participating in Professional Development.

          

While a Master’s Degree is the preferred credential for teaching FYE 105, the Implementation Team recognizes that there are those who may have a great deal of experience and knowledge in regards to the content of the FYE 105 course.  Therefore, the following Bachelor’s Plus credentials may also be approved:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Education

- Bachelor’s Degree in any area plus experience teaching GEN 100 or GEN 102 or other FYE-type courses

- Bachelor’s Degree in any area plus experience with college student success/student services processes – i.e. advising, student support services, and counseling.

 

Applicants must submit transcripts.  We can use unofficial transcripts as part of the application process.  However, official transcripts are required if an employment offer is extended.
