Adult Education Skills U

Part-time Temporary staff Adult Education Instructor for the BCTC Scott County Skills U program.

 

 

Working Hours per Week:     37.5 hours

Working Days per Week:       Monday through Friday (days and two evenings per week)

  1. Provides College and Career Ready Standards instruction for adult education students.  This includes Reading Language Arts and Mathematics.  In addition, English Language Acquisition for non-native speakers may be required. 
  2. Some instructional hours will be spent in a detention setting (2 hours per week).  
  3. Plans and provides instruction in academic skills instruction, GED preparation, English Language Acquisition, and workplace instruction for eligible adults in a variety of settings. 
  4. Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic assessments for adult students.
  5. Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies.
  6. Assesses and monitors learning. 
  7. Provides classroom management.
  8. Maintains lesson plans and syllabi for each course taught.
  9. Participates in professional development required by Kentucky Skills U.
  10. Maintains student records.
  11. Assists in the development of course offerings.
  12. Participates in retention and follow-up activities.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a content-related field. 
  • Score of NRS level 6 in Reading and Math on the TABE A 11/12 assessment (This assessment will be given by Scott County Skills U).
  • Successfully attains the Kentucky Employability Skills Certificate (KESC) (This assessment will be given by Scott County Skills U).
  • Successfully earns a passing GED Ready score in subject area(s) being taught (This assessment will be given by Scott County Skills U).
  • Post-Secondary transcripts
