National Responder Preparedness Center (NRPC) Coordinator

Position Description

The National Responder Preparedness Center (NRPC) Coordinator position will provide supervision, leadership, marketing, and management of the Kentucky Fire Commission/State Fire Rescue Training National Responder Preparedness Center (NRPC) located in Greenville, KY.

This is a defined-term contract position renewable each fiscal year and located in Greenville, KY.

Major Responsibilities/Duties

  • Leadership/Coordination/Management of education to include certification programs for firefighters and instructors, continuing education, Recruit Academies, and multiple embedded certificates for emergency responders and others.

 

  • Marketing/Development/Oversight/Management of strategic plans and public relations.

 

  • Oversight/Management of the budgetary process and management of the facility including buildings, props, equipment, etc.

 

  • Attend meetings, and conferences, including local, regional, and state firefighters’ association meetings.  Participating on local, regional, state, and national committees to represent the Kentucky Fire Commission/State Fire Rescue Training.

 

  • Serve as a direct liaison between the Kentucky Fire Commission/State Fire Rescue Training and the Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center.

 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • One (1) year certificate or training and six (6) years’ experience or equivalent.
  • KY IFSAC Accredited Firefighter Levels I & II.
  • KY IFSAC Accredited Fire Instructor I.

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Marketing, Public Administration or Fire Science and eight (8) years’ experience or equivalent.  
  • IFSAC Accredited Fire Instructor II and Other Kentucky Accredited Certifications.

 

Desired Competencies

  • Excellent Communication
  • People skills, including the ability to successfully interact with fire chiefs, training officers, various firefighter’s’ organizations, committees, and regulatory agencies.  This position will work with district coordinators, accredited certification office, EMS training program, and outside groups.
  • Facilities management experience and administrative skills a plus.

 

 

KY law requires state and national pre-employment background checks as a condition of employment.
