Job Summary
Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for a full-time Information Technology Specialist in the Learning Commons (the Library and Tutoring Services). The focus of this position is to provide technology support to students, faculty, and staff in the Learning Commons building.
Job Duties:
The IT Specialist reports to the Dean of the Learning Commons and functions as part of the Learning Commons team. The position is stationed on the Downtown Campus, but the IT Specialist will occasionally work on the Southwest Campus.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assisting students, faculty, and staff directly by providing software and hardware support and general technology instruction
• Monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing Learning Commons computers, printers, and other technology
• Maintaining and updating the Learning Commons SharePoint and Teams sites
• Producing and overseeing production of student ID cards
• Overseeing distribution of MFA keys, student desktops, and student laptops
• Providing customer service at the central services desk, when necessary
• Monitoring technology inventory (e.g., toner cartridges)
• Collaborating regularly with the Technology Solutions (IT) department and escalating concerns to KCTCS Technology Solutions when needed
• Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in information technology (IT) or a related field and 2 years of related experience, or the equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 4-6 years of IT support experience
• IT experience in a higher education setting
• Familiarity with Blackboard LMS, Entra ID, Microsoft Office 365, OnBase, PeopleSoft, Power Automate, PowerShell, SCCM, and Windows Active Directory
• Programming experience
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-paced environment
• Strong communication skills
• Professionalism, service orientation, and commitment to helping students succeed
