Job Summary

The Financial Aid Advisor II will support student enrollment for the 16 colleges of KCTCS by moving students through the financial aid verification process ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable federal regulations. The Financial Aid Advisor II will also be responsible for managing the Return of Title IV (R2T4 - Federal financial aid) funds calculations when a student withdraws from a KCTCS college. Additionally, the position will support the effective and compliant administration for federal and state financial aid.

Positions with the KCTCS System Office located in Versailles, KY are term-contract positions, with the expectancy of continuance based on performance.

KCTCS offers a hybrid work schedule with a requirement to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per work week. Hybrid work schedules are subject to periodic review and may be modified or terminated at any time.

Job Duties:

Return to Title IV Aid Calculations: The Return of Title IV (R2T4) calculation is performed to determine the amount of federal funds the student has earned and the amount of unearned Federal funds for which the school and the student is responsible to return (if any). The position will ensure accurate calculations of earned and unearned funds and make adjustments in the PeopleSoft Student Management System. The work requires knowledge and proficiency in federal database systems such as the Common Origination and Disbursement System (COD) and the National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS).

Verification of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): The Financial Aid Advisor II will demonstrate knowledge and proficiency (after initial training) of the FAFSA application, the review of federal tax forms and other necessary forms to effectively document accuracy of FASFA application data and make required updates to the Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR).

Communication with Students: Including by email, student portal, various phone call campaigns (e.g., enrollment support, verification advising, and the Fresh Start Initiative).

Comment Code Resolutions: The position will be expected to resolve comment codes (questioned items) on the FAFSA application by federal agencies including, but not limited to the National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Department of Defense (DOD), and Department of Justice (DOJ).

Administrative Processes: Assist with Processing and Reconciliation of Pell Grants, Federal Direct Loans, and State Aid programs.

Training: Attend required training, cross-training, and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Education, Finance or Business and two (2) years of relevant experience or equivalent.
