Salary Range: $3,490 per month

Contract Term Length: 12 Months

Standard Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Job Summary

The primary purpose of the full time Adult Education Instructor is to teach mathematics and reading, provide assessment and targeted instruction services to the Academic Foundations Department students in Christian and Todd Counties, to earn a high school equivalency diploma (GED), enroll in college, or advance in a career. Services may be provided at college campus or other external locations.

Job Duties:

1. Provide instruction for Adult Basic Education students in literacy, adult basic education, GED test preparation, English language acquisition, workforce preparation, and more. Assignment location may vary.
2. Plan, implement, document, and evaluate instructional strategies, learning practices, procedures, and tools appropriate to the needs of the adult student.
3. Leverage formal and informal assessment data to monitor and document student progress.
4. Adhere to and maintain established performance reporting procedures and information to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal policies and procedures.
5. Make referrals to community agencies or postsecondary institutions as appropriate.
6. Participate in the retention and follow-up of students.
7. Participate in required professional development activities.
8. Other duties as assigned by Director of Adult Education.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree (education or content-related field), and two years related experience or equivalent.
2. Must score within NRS Level 6 on the TABE 13/14 (A) within three months of hire. Math Instructors must take and score within NRS Level 6 in Mathematics and Reading. Reading Instructors must take and score within NRS Level 6 in Reading. If an instructor teaches in more than one area, they must score within NRS Level 6 in each content area they teach.
3. Must be digitally literate and proficient in using digital tools for communication, professional learning, and instruction
4. Ability to use common productivity software and Internet tools.
5. Excellent ability to use data in planning and oversight.
6. Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.
7. Must be comfortable providing services in jail and detention center locations.
