Title: Adult Education Instructor

Salary Range: $3,490 per month (11 months)

Contract Term Length: 11 Months

Standard Hours: 37.5 per week

Job Summary

Hazard Community & Technical College invites applicants to apply for a full-time Adult Education Instructor position. This full-time position will be responsible for teaching reading, math, and writing skills to increase basic skills and prepare students for the GED exam. Instruction will be provided in learning centers and correctional facilities.
This position is currently designed as an 11-month position with the calendar month off to be determined. Position is Grant funded.

Job Duties:

• Plan and provide basic skills Instruction in reading language arts (RLA) and mathematics
• Record keeping and documentation of student progress
• Administer and interpret placement and diagnostic assessments
• Provide classroom management and student support
• Maintain student records
• Participate in required professional development
• Maintain lesson plans and syllabi
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or a content-related field and score at a NRS level 6 in Reading and Mathematics on the TABE 13/14 within 3 months of hire. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working with adults from diverse populations
• Experience in classroom and online instructional delivery preferred

• Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
• Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).
