Job Summary
The Department of Advancement has an opening for an Advancement Assistant. This is a regular full-time position.
Job Duties:
The primary focus of this position is to support all functions of the Advancement office, including gift solicitation, processing, follow-up, and stewardship. It includes database development and maintenance, special event coordination, and is often the first point of contact for donors, board members, and prospective donors.
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Processing all donations; including database entry, drafting receipt and thank you letters
· Reconciling and maintaining documentation for gift accounts
· Facilitate departmental purchases and submit required documentation
· Updating and maintaining donor database
· Assist with the coordination, planning, and execution of events and meetings (Jefferson Foundation Board meetings, Jefferson Jubilee, and other fundraising/donor recognition events)
· Execute and manage mass mailings and other correspondence; including compiling mailing lists from database, preparing materials, and working with necessary parties to coordinate distribution.
· Update social media platforms for the Jefferson Foundation, including creating content and making posts on a regular basis.
· Provide reception and office support as needed for the shared office area between Advancement and the Office of the President.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree (related field) and three years related work experience, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Preference extended to candidates with experience with Raiser’s Edge and/or other constituent management software, and/or experience in non-profit fundraising environments. Excellent communication (strong written and verbal skills), organization skills, and strong people skills are required. Candidates should also have experience and sensitivity working with students from diverse backgrounds and commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
