Job Summary
The Dean of Institutional Research works collaboratively with college leadership, faculty, and staff to lead the development of robust, meaningful data analytic tools and analysis to inform planning and decision-making. Provides strategic leadership and support in the research, planning, budgeting, management, and development of initiatives and key deliverables, including the evaluation of their impact on enrollment, retention, success, and outcomes.
Job Duties:
- Provides strategic leadership that enables the college to fulfill its mission and achieve strategic goals by applying advanced institutional research methodologies, rigorous statistical analyses, and sound survey design and administration practices. Translates complex data into clear, accessible, and actionable insights for faculty, staff, and executive leadership to strengthen shared understanding and support a culture of evidence-based decision-making.
- Enhances the college’s analytical capacity by designing and implementing tools, dashboards, and processes that produce deeper, more timely insights for strategic and operational decision-making. Leads analytical efforts focused on evaluating student enrollment patterns, retention, and success initiatives, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support and advance collegewide initiatives and priorities.
- Oversees the development, integration, and interpretation of key performance indicators and leading measures, ensuring cohesive alignment across college, system, state, and accreditation requirements.
- Leverages internal and external data sources—including labor market analytics, student pathways, and performance trends—to guide strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, and continuous improvement at all organizational levels
- Leads the reporting of required state and federal data and works closely with faculty and staff to promote effective use of data to strengthen academic programs, student services, and institutional effectiveness. Responds to internal and external requests for information and data; ensuring analyses and ad hoc reports are relevant, well-documented, and presented in formats that support informed action
- Supports grant development and fundraising efforts by providing data analysis, research, and documentation that assist principal investigators, faculty, and staff in identifying and pursuing public and private funding opportunities aligned with the college’s mission, goals, and strategic priorities.
- Directly supervises and provides professional development support for three institutional research staff members.
- Manages and administers IPRE budget matters and serves as the unit’s budget authority. Actively supports the mission, vision, and values of the college; participates in college events, committees, and meetings; and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Data Strategy and Innovation.
- Facilitates meetings, trainings, and presentations with confidence, clarity, and strong audience engagement.
- Communicates sensitive or confidential information with professionalism, accuracy, and discretion.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in research, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, social science, or related field.
and
- 4 years’ experience in research, predictive analytics, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in research, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, social science, or related field
and
- 5 years’ experience in research, predictive analytics, or related field.
- Supervisory experience
Additional Skills Requested:
- Demonstrated knowledge of accepted methods of gathering and analyzing research data.
- Demonstrated proficiency with software such as SAS, SPSS, or R for data mining and analysis.
- Demonstrates exceptional written communication skills and the ability to effectively present complex information in an engaging and accessible manner to students, staff, faculty, leadership teams, and Board members.
