Job Summary

Big Sandy Community & Technical College is seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist I to support marketing and communications activities in areas related to public relations, crisis communications, internal communications, executive communications, social media, advertising/digital marketing, recruitment materials, lead generation, and Strategic Enrollment Management plans/communications to support the institution's goals.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and distribute press releases, media advisories, feature stories, and communications to support BSCTC's mission and strategic goals.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the College’s brand strategy to ensure consistent messaging and visual identity across all platforms.
  • Support the Director of Marketing in evaluating and optimizing marketing strategies by assembling forecasts, setting goals, and organizing promotional calendars and presentations.
  • Research marketing trends, customer behavior, and competitor landscape, and prepare reports by analyzing and summarizing data.
  • Communicate campaign objectives, timelines and deliverables to college faculty and staff and provide instructions for usage and promotion.
  • Continually seek new sources of prospective customer data and provide recommendations for marketing leadership.
  • Plan meetings, events, conferences, photography, and videography by identifying requirements, establishing contacts, developing schedules and assignments, and coordinating mailing lists.
  • Serve as a liaison between the College and local/regional/statewide media; coordinate interviews and manage public/media inquiries.
  • Serve on the College’s Crisis Communication Planning Team and report closures via social media, internet, email, College app and local news stations.
  • Attend college events, high school events, community events and career fairs as assigned to promote the College by taking pictures, making videos, conducting interviews for press releases, or setting up tables/tents and giving away promotional items.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years related experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years related experience.

Additional Skills Requested:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience in public relations, communications, or marketing.
  • Knowledge of traditional and digital marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with attention to AP style and multimedia formatting.
  • Experience using data analytics software.
  • Excellent communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into marketing recommendations.
