Job Summary

The Humanities Department of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for a First-Year Experience Course Adjunct Instructor to teach FYE 105 at the Carrollton campus. The primary responsibilities of this position are to teach in-person courses for the fall semester 2026.

Job Duties:

The other primary responsibilities of this position are to:
• Maintain some office hours for mentoring and coaching students
• Maintain student records and grades
• Develop and implement success and retention activities,
• Utilization of a learning management system such as Blackboard for communication and feedback.
• Knowledge of higher education student needs, including academic skills, campus resources, advising and use of technology.

Minimum Qualifications:

BACHELOR’S DEGREE WITH EXPERIENCE TEACHING AND/OR ADVISING  

Preferred Qualifications:

While a Master’s Degree is the preferred credential for teaching FYE, the Implementation Team recognizes that there are those who may have a great deal of experience and knowledge in regards to the content of the FYE course. Therefore, the following Bachelor’s Plus credentials may also be approved:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in any area plus experience teaching GEN 100 or GEN 102 or other FYE-type courses
- Bachelor’s Degree in any area plus experience with college student success/student services processes – i.e. advising, student support services, counseling
