Job Summary
Full-time 10-month faculty position HIT medical coding program; must be committed to providing quality instruction to students of various ages and backgrounds while meeting the program objectives. Applicants must enjoy working with students both in and out of the classroom. This individual will fulfill all other faculty responsibilities for student and program support.
10-month faculty contracts span the academic year, typically from August to May, with no course assignments during June and July. Although the contract covers 10 months, the salary is spread over 12 months, ensuring a consistent monthly salary.
Benefits are provided year-round. Renewal of the contract depends on factors such as student enrollment and available funding.
**Applicants selected for an interview will be required to give a short (approximately 15 minutes) teaching demonstration on the topic to be determined prior to the interview. Faculty may be assigned courses that include both traditional college students and high school students earning dual credit. This dynamic mix offers a unique opportunity to engage learners at different stages of their academic journey.
Job Duties:
- Instruct 15 credit hours per semester, fulfill other full-time faculty responsibilities, and complete program specific reporting.
- Virtual classroom instruction that incorporates CCA domains and concepts into classroom instruction and classroom management.
- Provide students with adequate attention, instruction, and supervised practice to acquire the knowledge and competence needed for entry-level practice.
- This position must be flexible in teaching daytime, evening, or weekend classes, and through online and remote delivery methodologies.
- Additionally, provide instruction for online medical terminology courses.
- Actively participate in student advising via Microsoft Teams meetings.
- Promote the general education and transferability of coursework to four-year institutions through collaborative partnerships.
- Actively participate and work within the state and local curriculum committee guidelines to ensure that the quality of the program is maintained at the highest level.
- Work with program faculty to complete academic program reviews as requested.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the courses as they relate to the general education components necessary for all technical and transfer programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher with required. RHIT, CCA, CCS, or CPC is also required.
- Minimum of two years work experience in the field is required.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related healthcare field with CCA certification.
- Recommend having in-patient and out-patient coding experience with a minimum of five-years’ experience in the field.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (such as Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)
- Significant teaching experience, particularly at the college level
- Strong dedication to enhancing student learning and achievement
- Experience working with and understanding students from diverse backgrounds
- Experience in academic advising and supporting student success
- Previous experience in a community college setting
Additional Skills Requested:
ICD-10-CM Trainer or significant work experience.
