Job Summary

The maintenance technician performs maintenance on all utility systems for the Danville BCTC campus site. Working collaboratively with the Campus Director and the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor, this position troubleshoots and performs preventative maintenance on electrical circuits, motor controls, safety circuits, steam plant, and HVAC systems utilizing specialized equipment and skills. Additionally, this position maintains the grounds to meet seasonal requirements.

Job Duties:

Troubleshoots all utility systems, including electrical circuits, motor controls, and HVAC and steam plant (where appropriate).
2. Performs skilled maintenance duties in the area of HVAC monitoring/maintenance.
3. Performs advanced electrical duties such as installing receptacles, switches, breakers, ballasts, replacing light fixtures, and repairing power equipment.
4. Performs advanced plumbing duties such as waterline repairs, valve repairs, and drain line maintenance
5. Performs advanced carpentry duties such as dry walling, painting, door repair, installation of partitions, and installation of ceiling and floor tiles.
6. Performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment such as tractors, mowing equipment, and vehicles.
7. Mows and maintains grounds based on seasonal requirements, including a visually appealing and healthy landscape.
8. Provides setup and breakdown of furniture for special events and assists in moving furniture or equipment for events, meetings, and classes.
9. Opens and locks buildings as required and on schedule.
10. Assists with daily, monthly, and seasonal cleaning.
11. Snow removal during the winter months, spread de-icing on patios and walkways.
12. Available 24/7 on an emergency basis when required or as assigned.
13. Other duties as assigned by the Campus Director, Maintenance and Operations Supervisor and Dean of Operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED and three years of related experience  

Preferred Qualifications:

Vocational Training or Two-Year College Degree, or equivalent
