Job Summary
The Manager of Accounting Services is responsible for the colleges accounting functions with respect to KCTCS business procedures and helps to ensure that generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) are followed. The position provides guidance and leadership relative to maintaining accurate and timely accounting processes as they relate to state and federal laws. The position will employ analytical processes to aid the college in meeting its goal of maximizing the use of its assets. This position is supervised by the associate vice president of business services.
Job Duties:
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations as required by KCTCS or the vice president of finance and operations.
Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations as required by KCTCS or the vice president of finance and operations.
Conduct random cash receipts internal audits monthly.
Responsible for preparing and entering general ledger journal entries.
Ensure that Total Managed Print (TMP) recharges are processed on a timely basis. Work with printing software to ensure that all accounts have the proper print credit and that all employees are tied to a recharge department.
Analyze and review various revenue and expense accounts including confirmation of deferred revenue.
Assist all faculty and staff with accounting questions relating to KCTCS business procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.
Prepare and submit to the vice president of finance and operations by June 30, the SACS Financials/IPEDS yearly report.
Conduct internal auditing functions as necessary.
Promote the efficient use of college resources and cost effectiveness within the college.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the associate vice president of business services or the vice president of finance and operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field) and two years related experience, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Four years of related experience.
Significant accounting experience in a post-secondary educational setting.
Extensive technical knowledge and skill in PeopleSoft and other related software programs.
High level of professional judgment, accounting skill, analytical skill, attention to detail, organization, and flexibility.
Commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community and technical college and to personalized business services.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills (written & oral).
Understanding of legal and audit constraints in the practice of accounting and business services.
Personal and professional ethics.
