Job Summary
Big Sandy Community and Technical College is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Marketing & Communications Specialist I to support the college’s student outreach, branding, and communication initiatives. This role plays a key part in shaping the visual identity of the institution, managing social media presence, and producing high quality marketing materials.
Job Duties:
Graphic Design
• Develop visually engaging graphics for events, programs, recruitment efforts, and general outreach.
• Create brochures, flyers, and promotional materials that align with brand standards.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to interpret ideas and translate them into intuitive, appealing designs.
Digital Content & Social Media Management
• Produce content, posts, and pages that attract and engage target audiences.
• Create enrollment-focused social media graphics and maintain a consistent posting schedule.
• Track and report on engagement metrics as part of enrollment centered goals.
Brand Monitoring & Reputation Awareness
• Monitor brand- and product-related conversations across multiple platforms.
• Assist in maintaining a cohesive and accurate representation of the college’s brand.
Web & SEO Engagement
• Increase traffic across social media and website channels.
• Analyze user activity and engagement trends.
• Monitor SEO and web traffic metrics to improve online reach.
Additional Duties
• Support PR functions including occasional writing of press releases.
• Participate in crisis management and communications groups as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operations.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related field.
• Proficiency with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with social media management and digital marketing analytics preferred.
