      Job Summary

      Seeking an experienced Blueprint Reading Instructor to deliver hands-on workforce training for incumbent workers and adult learners. This non-credit instruction is provided on-site at local manufacturing and industrial employer locations, or in campus-based labs as needed. This position is ideal for industry professionals with a strong electrical background who enjoy mentoring and teaching adults on an as-needed basis.

      Job Duties:

      • Teach foundational and intermediate topics in blueprint reading, including:
        • Print reading for machining, as well as civil and architectural projects
        • Use line types and other standard graphical symbols.
        • Identify and arrange single and multi-view drawings
        • Describe the principles and concepts of orthographic projection
        • Describe the principles and concepts of sectional and auxiliary views
        • Interpret dimensions on assembly drawings
        • Demonstrate proper dimensioning techniques
        • Apply and interpret tolerances
        • Describe drawing notes and title block information
        • Identify machining specifications
        • Deliver content using hands-on demonstrations, simulation panels, and real-world troubleshooting scenarios
        • Reinforce safe work practices in all aspects of instruction
        • Prepare and maintain instructional materials and equipment
        • Communicate with Workforce Solutions team, employer partners, and learners about training logistics and expectations
        • Support learners with informal assessments, real-time feedback, and coaching

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant technical field (e.g., Industrial Technology, Welding, Applied Technology).
      • Minimum of two years of recent industrial experience in reading mechanical and/or welding assembly blueprints.
      • In-depth knowledge of blueprint reading principles, symbols, scales, dimensions, views, perspectives, and industry standards.
      • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills for identifying discrepancies or issues in blueprints.
      • Proficiency in mathematics and geometry applicable to blueprint reading.
      • Ability to travel to employer sites within the NKY region, including southern Ohio
      • Experience working with or training adult learners
      • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Prior teaching, coaching, or technical training experience
      • Self-directed, dependable, and professional

      Additional Skills Requested:

      • Proficiency in information technology and computer use, including CAD software.
      • General drafting and sketching skills, as well as experience with active and collaborative learning strategies, are also beneficial.
      • Communicate effectively with Workforce staff, employer partners, and students
      • Offer informal assessments, feedback, and coaching to learners
