Job Summary
This position will be responsible for teaching ESL classes on campus (not a distance education position) or IET services within the community. Topics include reading, writing, listening, speaking, and civics education in the Adult Education ESL program. There will be a minimum of two classes per week, which will include teaching in the mornings Monday through Thursday.
Job Duties:
- Teach reading, writing, listening, speaking, and civics education in English as a Second Language.
- Position will teach a minimum of two classes (Monday through Thursday) per week at varying levels and at multiple sites.
- This will include lesson development and use of online learning systems.
- Manage the data and record-keeping for their ESL students at all locations, other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Must be able to work independently.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a community college setting
Additional Skills Requested:
Required:
- Must score NRS level 6 on the TABE in Reading and Math.
- Must have classroom experience delivering ESL instruction as well as using digital learning programs for instruction. Ability to work well with a diverse group of people.
- Database experience
- Testing experience
- Excellent digital literacy skills
- Ability to develop curriculum and lessons at various levels of difficulty and for an ESL population
- Ability to work with adult students and non-native speakers
- Must be able to work independently.
- Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing himself/herself professionally and courteously.
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.
- Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
- Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).
Preferred:
- Experience in an Adult Education program with ESL preferred.
- Experience working at the community college level.
