Title: Part-Time ESL Instructor (16 Hours)

Salary Range: $21.50 with bachelor’s degree / 23.50 with master’s degree

Contract Term Length: Not Applicable

Standard Hours:16 hours/week, Monday – Thursday mornings

Work Location: On-Site

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for teaching ESL classes on campus (not a distance education position) or IET services within the community. Topics include reading, writing, listening, speaking, and civics education in the Adult Education ESL program. There will be a minimum of two classes per week, which will include teaching in the mornings Monday through Thursday.

Job Duties:

  • Teach reading, writing, listening, speaking, and civics education in English as a Second Language.
  • Position will teach a minimum of two classes (Monday through Thursday) per week at varying levels and at multiple sites.
  • This will include lesson development and use of online learning systems.
  • Manage the data and record-keeping for their ESL students at all locations, other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a community college setting

Additional Skills Requested:

Required:

  • Must score NRS level 6 on the TABE in Reading and Math.
  • Must have classroom experience delivering ESL instruction as well as using digital learning programs for instruction. Ability to work well with a diverse group of people.
  • Database experience
  • Testing experience
  • Excellent digital literacy skills
  • Ability to develop curriculum and lessons at various levels of difficulty and for an ESL population
  • Ability to work with adult students and non-native speakers
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing himself/herself professionally and courteously.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).

Preferred:

  • Experience in an Adult Education program with ESL preferred.
  • Experience working at the community college level.
