Job Summary

Somerset Community College is accepting applications for a Staff Instructor III - Lineman Instructor. This position will teach SCC Lineman course curriculum.

Job Duties:

Extensive knowledge of and compliance with the Electrical Utility Safety Rules and procedures.


Maintain the program’s equipment and lab facilities and complete reports for the program.


Recruit and advise students about the job market and the Lineman Program.


Maintain, and improve through professional development, competence in discipline knowledge and instructional techniques and capabilities.


Participate in internal and external service within the college service area.


Participate in Continuing Education and Community Service offerings.


Serve on division, college, and system committees as elected or appointed.


Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ten years working as a Lineman in the Electrical Utility field; must possess current CDL-A license.


Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; self-motivated; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to be an effective communicator (oral and written communications) with parents, students, and industry, representing SCC’s Lineman Center in a professional and courteous manner.


Ability to utilize different methods and mediums for delivering course material.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of one year supervisory experience.


Proven educational or administrative experience in critical thinking, problem solving, and judgment skills.

Associate degree preferred but not required.
