VACANCY POSTING NOTICE – January 20, 2023

Official Title of Position: Technical Director – Preston Arts Center
Minimum Monthly Salary: $2,806 - Band 8 - 12-month annual contract

Job Location:
Henderson Community College serves credit, dual credit, adult education and workforce development students in a three-county region of Northwest Kentucky. The college also serves several counties in Southwest Indiana by offering in-state tuition. Henderson is one of 16 colleges in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS).


Position Duties/Responsibilities:
Provides supervision of stage and backstage areas, and use of production equipment of Preston Arts Center.
• Sets up for events, serves as designer and light/sound board operator as needed.
• Supervises stage use, production equipment, and all backstage areas of the PAC.
• Provides management of all technical equipment and maintains a safe working environment in all technical support areas.
• Supervises and trains part-time and temporary employees.
• Installs and takes down gallery art shows.
• Coordinates needs-assessment and scheduling of work crews.
• Serves on college-wide committees as requested.
• Serves as a resource on technical matters by providing advice and information on general production considerations, specific     performances, facility use and technical equipment to Preston Arts Center users.
• Provides technical assistance in support of campus media/public relations events.
• Schedule requires occasional nights and weekends.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree (Technical Theatre or related field) and two years related work experience, or equivalent.

Special Requirements:
• Problem Solving: Problems are different but tend to come up often. Suggests new solutions to the supervisor or others in handling unusual problems.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: Functions as a first-line supervisor over others and is responsible for hiring, terminating, appraising performance, or strongly recommending such personnel actions.
• Oversight and Direction: Receives general direction working from established policies and objectives. Plans and carries out assignments and resolves most conflicts that arise.
