Job Summary

Big Sandy Community and Technical College is seeking a Testing Services Coordinator to be responsible for managing all aspects of the college’s testing services, including overseeing both internal and external assessments for students. This position ensures that all testing is conducted in a secure, fair, and accessible manner, in compliance with institutional policies and relevant laws. The Testing Services Coordinator will support students by facilitating entrance exams, placement assessments, and certification tests.

Position is primarily based in Prestonsburg, but will require travel to alternate campus locations.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate Testing Schedules: Develop and manage the schedule for all testing services, including placement exams, entrance exams (e.g., TEAS, Accuplacer), certification exams, re-testing, and other assessments required by the college or external organizations.
  • Oversee Test Administration: Supervise the administration of tests, ensuring compliance with testing protocols, regulations, and policies. Ensure that testing environments are secure, and that test-takers are provided with the necessary instructions, materials, and accommodations.
  • Maintain Test Security: ensure the security of all testing materials, including storing and handling tests according to appropriate security guidelines. Prevent cheating and other academic dishonesty by monitoring test sessions effectively.
  • Assist Students with Testing Requirements: provide guidance to students regarding testing for admissions, course placement, certification, and special programs. Explain the testing process, test preparation resources, and how test results are used in academic planning.
  • Provide Testing Accommodations: collaborate with the Disability Services office to arrange accommodation for students with documented disabilities, including extended time, alternative formats, or other individualized testing needs. Ensure that all accommodation is provided in accordance with legal and institutional requirements.
  • Maintain Testing Records: ensure accurate and secure record-keeping of test results, student data, and any special accommodations provided. Input test results into the college’s student information system and share results with relevant academic departments or faculty.
  • Prepare Testing Reports: generate and maintain reports on test-taking trends, results, and feedback for institutional assessment and improvement. Provide statistical analysis and insights on student performance as required by academic departments or administration.
  • Monitor and Report on Compliance: ensure that all testing practices are compliant with state, federal, and institutional regulations, including maintaining confidentiality of student records and following guidelines such as FERPA.
  • Collaborate with Academic Departments: work closely with faculty, advisors, and program directors to ensure that tests are aligned with course objectives, placement criteria, and program requirements. Provide advice on testing policies, procedures, and results interpretation.
  • Communicate Testing Procedures and Policies: clear communication testing policies and procedures to students, faculty, and staff through written documents, emails, and information sessions. Ensure that all stakeholders are aware of deadlines, fees, and test-taking rules.
  • Liaise with External Testing Agencies: coordinate with external testing agencies (e.g., Pearson VUE, Accuplacer) for certification exams, standardized tests, or other off campus testing needs. Ensure compliance with their policies and procedures while managing logistics and scheduling.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 1 year related experience in the Education, Psychology or Student Services fields. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 3 year related experience in the Education, Psychology or Student Services fields.

Additional Skills Requested:

  • Additional certifications or experience in testing administration or disability services is a plus.
  • Familiarity with administering and proctoring standardized tests, entrance exams, and placement assessments.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities and providing accommodation in an educational setting would be considered exceptional.
