Title: Information Commons Lead - Part Time

Anticipated Start Date: July 2025

Salary Range: 16.50 per hour

Standard Hours: 24 hours per week

Work Location: On-Site

Job Summary

The Part-Time Information Commons Lead at Gateway Community and Technical College supports students, faculty, staff, and the community by providing helpful information and administrative assistance. This role is key to student success and retention efforts. Leads help create a welcoming, inclusive environment and manage the daily operations of the Information Commons desk. This part-time position shares the same responsibilities as the full-time Lead role, with a reduced schedule.

Job Duties:

  • Serves as first point of contact while also providing excellent customer service, sharing accurate information with students, staff, faculty and the community
  • Connecting students and the community to appropriate departments, programs and resources
  • Documenting service provided to the Gateway community by correctly completing Information Commons tickets
  • Mentoring, training, and guiding Information Commons work study students. Collaborating with Information Commons staff and students to keep the desk area organized and uncluttered, maintaining a comfortable and safe working environment.
  • Scheduling personnel to cover the desk during hours of operation and completing secondary tasks as assigned by department heads.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED
  • High attention to detail, independent, self-motivated, adaptable to fast-paced environments.
  • Skilled in engaging and supporting students from diverse different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Professional and courteous communication at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Clear verbal and written skills.
  • Efficiently prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a community college setting
