Job Summary
Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College is seeking an instructor teach in an Associate of Applied Science Surgical Technology Program. In addition to teaching, this position will also serve as the Program Coordinator for the program and is directly responsible and accountable for all aspects of the Surgical Technology Program on the Pineville Campus. This is a full time 11 month defined term contract position.
Job Duties:
• Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, including but not limited to administration, organization, supervision of the program, including the accreditation & assessment processes.
• Participating in budget planning.
• Participating in didactic and/or clinical instruction, as appropriate.
• Participate in continuing professional development activities to maintain currency in the field and with instructional, and educational practices & methods.
• Responsible for all aspects of the program with continuous quality review and improvement of the program; and
• Assuming the leadership role, is responsible for all aspects of academic oversight, including curriculum planning and continued development of the program.
• Participate in an ARC/STSA sponsored accreditation workshop at least once every five years.
• Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. The program coordinator must possess a minimum of an Associate Degree; and
2. Have documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning; and
3. Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency; and
4. Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA); and
5. Have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
