Job Summary
Provides supervision of custodial and minor maintenance activity for all Gateway Community and Technical College facilities including management, planning, budget, and resource allocation.
Job Duties:
Manages the overall custodial and minor maintenance activities for facilities across multiple campuses by providing supervision, approving time off, ensuring appropriate staff coverage, training personnel, and holding employees accountable for following procedures and performing their duties to the best of their ability. This includes personally performing custodial and minor maintenance activities as needed.
Develops a strategy for the department to help establish goals and objectives including coordination of safety actions to meet standards and maintaining department compliance of required training.
Manages job orders from faculty and staff through M&O ticketing system for completion by facilities team. Performs or assigns minor maintenance functions such as changing light bulbs/ballasts, minor plumbing/electrical issues, unloading/loading of trucks, assisting in the storage and removal of hazardous waste, and coordinating fire drills and snow removal from sidewalks as needed.
Inspects cleanliness of all campuses and collaborates with senior leadership on recommendations for continuous improvement in maintaining standards of cleanliness, safety, and team cohesiveness and collaboration.
Performs other duties as assigned by the AVP of Facilities Management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 2 to 4 years management/supervisory experience required, 2- 4 years in job family
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Basic understanding of cleaning equipment like vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Capable of standing for extended periods and doing repetitive tasks.
Reliable, adaptable, and committed to keeping things clean and safe.
You must be able to occasionally and safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
High attention to detail, independent, self-motivated, adaptable to fast-paced environments.
Skilled in engaging and supporting students from diverse different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Professional and courteous communication at all levels, both internally and externally.
Clear verbal and written skills.
Efficiently prioritize and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 3 to 5 years in job family and 5 years of management/supervisory experience
Experience working at the community college level.
