Job Summary

Psychology:
The Psychology Area at BCTC is seeking qualified part-time faculty for on-site classes at high schools in Fayette County.

While we are primarily seeking applicants to teach on-site, adjuncts may be asked to teach using any of the following modes of instruction:
• On-site with in-person meetings two days per week,
• Hybrid with in-person meetings on-site one day per week paired with online instruction

Job Duties:

Professional Responsibilities & Collaboration
• Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and high school partners to provide education, evaluation, and supervision to students.
• Conduct all dual-credit-related activities in a professional manner.
• Complete all mandatory annual employment training and required professional development training designated for employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Instructional Delivery & Course Management
• Provide high-quality instruction for dual credit courses on-site in high schools.
• Instruction must be aligned with program-approved course objectives and student learning outcomes.
• Prepare adequately for all classes, meet assigned classes punctually, and maintain active, current knowledge required by the curriculum.
• Prepare and deliver comprehensive course syllabi and lectures relevant to official course descriptions.
• Provide and manage an online course shell which meets institutional minimum standards for structure and content, ensuring student access to syllabi and grades regardless of the primary delivery mode.
• Complete mandatory instructional training specific to your mode of instruction, particularly for hybrid and/or online teaching.

Student Assessment & Engagement
• Develop individual course assignments (discussions, written work, research exercises, quizzes, and exams) and contribute to the creation of common assessments to evaluate student proficiency.
• Evaluate student progress appropriately, equitably, and in a timely manner, participating in the development, implementation, and reporting of program and course assessment outcomes.
• Maintain regular contact with students, answering emails and messages promptly, and meeting with individuals or small groups for supplemental instruction, direction, and feedback.

Records & Institutional Reporting
• Maintain accurate records relating to student achievement, progress, and attendance—including verifying course attendance at the start of the term and documenting the last day of attendance for students earning failing grades.
• Adhere strictly to the instructor reporting schedule, which includes submitting early progress reports, recording midterm/final grades, and fulfilling other required institutional reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Psychology or a Master’s Degree in any field and at least 18 hours of graduate-level coursework in Psychology.  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous teaching experience, specifically in higher education, is preferred but not required
