Job Summary
Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) is seeking an innovative and technically skilled AI and Innovation Technologist to design, develop, implement, and support AI-enabled technology solutions that support college operations, workforce initiatives, and digital services. This position will develop AI-supported IT systems, tools, applications, automations, and digital products that address identified business, operational, and training needs.
The ideal candidate will have experience with artificial intelligence technologies, application and web development, automation platforms, APIs, databases, cloud-based technologies, and emerging development tools, along with the ability to rapidly learn and apply new technologies as they evolve. This is a full-time, one-year assignment. Continuation of this position is contingent upon the availability of funding.
Job Duties:
•Design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and enhance AI-enabled applications, systems, web-based tools, dashboards, automations, workflows, and digital products that support college operations, workforce initiatives, and organizational needs.
•Integrate AI models, APIs, databases, cloud services, third-party platforms, and other technologies into new and existing systems using programming, scripting, low-code/no-code platforms, and emerging development tools.
•Develop and implement AI-powered solutions and automations that streamline processes, reduce repetitive work, improve access to information, increase operational efficiency, and address identified business and workforce needs.
•Prototype, pilot, evaluate, and refine emerging AI and technology solutions; gather user feedback; troubleshoot and enhance developed solutions; and assist with testing, deployment, user acceptance, and broader implementation.
•Manage multiple technology projects and priorities while meeting established timelines; apply appropriate practices related to data security, privacy, accessibility, responsible AI use, and technology governance; and remain current with emerging AI, automation, application development, and other technologies.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
•Associate’s degree (Computer Science, Information Technology, or Web Design) and four (4) years of relevant work experience or equivalent is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of relevant experience is preferred.
Additional Skills Requested:
•Knowledge of artificial intelligence, generative AI, automation, application development, and emerging technology platforms.
•Ability to design and develop practical technology solutions based on organizational and user needs.
•Experience with programming, scripting, APIs, databases, web technologies, cloud-based applications, or low-code/no-code development platforms.
•Ability to evaluate and integrate AI models and services into applications, workflows, and digital products.
•Ability to rapidly learn, evaluate, and apply new and emerging technologies.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting established deadlines.
