Job Summary
The Comprehensive Transitions Program (CTP) provides campus opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities, including academics, social engagement, and work-based training. The goal is for BCTC students enrolled in the CTP program to gain skills in problem-solving, decision-making, self-advocacy, communication, and collaboration through inclusive experiences, all leading toward independence in adult life. Students in the CTP program are supported by a Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator. The primary role of the CTP Assistant Coordinator is to foster and support inclusive higher education for students with intellectual disabilities at BCTC through collaboration and active engagement with the BCTC community including students, faculty, staff, community agencies and partners.
Job Duties:
• Coach students through general education course work using standardized approach with support from CTP Coordinator and University of Kentucky Human Development Institute (HDI).
• Attend courses with students as defined in their personalized plan, with goal to support students attending class independently
• Connect students with clubs, groups and activities on campus.
• Coordinate with faculty teaching courses for any modifications to course work and guide students to advocate for themselves with faculty.
• Promote benefits of work-based learning and assist students in finding internships or part time work-based learning opportunities.
• Advocate and promote the benefits of education and advantages of Gradual Release of Responsibility with faculty and staff.
• Collaborate with BCTC departments providing support services to CTP students such as SAS, Tutoring Center, Student Success Hub, etc.
• Monitor student progress, collect and report on student outcome data.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or related field
