Job Summary
The Career & Work-Based Learning Navigator supports students and recent alumni through career coaching, career-connected learning, and participation support within non-apprenticeship Academic-Based Work-Based Learning opportunities aligned with students’ programs of study. The position assists students in navigating internships, co-ops, job shadows, micro-internships, project-based learning experiences, and related Academic-Based WBL and career-connected applied learning opportunities through career guidance, academic advising support, academic and career pathway navigation, employer engagement support, participation assistance, and workforce readiness development. This position is grant funded.
Job Duties:
Academic-Based WBL Pathway Coordination & Participation Support:
- Supports students and recent alumni in identifying, preparing for, and participating in non-apprenticeship
- Academic-Based Work-Based Learning opportunities aligned with their programs of study, including internships, co-ops, job shadows, micro-internships, and project-based learning.
- Assists with participation follow-up, readiness requirements, academic and career pathway navigation, resource connection, and workforce readiness activities that support successful career-connected applied learning experiences.
Career Coaching & Student Support:
- Provides individualized career coaching and career development support to students and recent alumni, including career exploration, self-assessment, major and career alignment, employment preparation, job search strategies, resume development, interview preparation, and transition-to-employment support.
- Supports student engagement, participation follow-up, and successful participation within Academic-Based WBL pathways.
- Assists students with academic advising support, academic and career pathway navigation, resource connection, and referral support related to Work-Based Learning participation and career-connected learning opportunities.
Employer, Classroom, & Student Engagement Support:
- Assists with employer classroom visits, presentations, campus recruiting activities, workshops, recruitment events, and Academic-Based WBL opportunities.
- Collaborates with faculty, employers, and institutional partners to support career-connected learning, student engagement initiatives, and opportunities for Academic-Based WBL participation.
Operational Systems, Communication, & Outcomes Tracking:
- Utilizes departmental systems and student engagement platforms including Handshake, OnceHub, Amazon Career Choice, and related departmental technologies.
- Assists with student communication, outreach, follow-up, participation tracking, and shared departmental support processes.
- Maintains records and supports tracking of engagement, placement, retention, and employment outcomes related to Academic-Based WBL and career-connected applied learning activities.
- Assists with institutional reporting, outreach initiatives, marketing activities, and cross-functional workforce development efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 2 to 4 years of relevant experience
- Strong presentation, communication, organization, and student support skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to assist with multiple activities, timelines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently and collaboratively
- Skilled in engaging and supporting students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and relationship-building communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, employers, and institutional partners
- Ability to support students with academic advising support, academic and career pathway navigation, educational planning support, and resource connection
- Experience supporting events, outreach initiatives, presentations, or student engagement activities preferred
- Ability to appropriately manage sensitive student and institutional information
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in higher education, workforce development, Career Services, advising, student services, or Work-Based Learning environments preferred
- Experience utilizing student engagement, scheduling, communication, or tracking systems preferred
- Experience supporting career-connected learning, student outreach, academic pathway support, advising support activities, or Academic-Based WBL activities preferred.
- Previous experience in a community college setting
