Job Summary
The Director of Library Services will manage the two libraries of HCTC. HCTC has libraries on the Hazard Campus and the Lees College Campus.
Review of applications will begin June 19, 2025.
Job Duties:
Duties to include, but not be limited to:
• Work in collaboration with Chief Academic Officer and Dean in strategic planning, implementation, and reporting for the unit. Reporting requirements include annual reports and any college, KCTCS System, state or federal reporting needed.
• Responsible for allocation of library’s budget to support all academic programs. This includes collection development at each location, online only programs, and in collaboration with technical departments which utilize Perkins funding. Provides input through the needs assessment process in requesting funds for collections, services, and facilities of HCTC Libraries on an annual basis.
• Responsible for the library information literacy instruction program at all locations and online through collaboration with college faculty, including working with dual credit instructors and the prison education program.
• Supervise all librarian faculty, staff employees, and provide necessary training. Training may include cataloging, interlibrary loan processes, and creating employee and student ID badges.
• Participate in professional development training with an emphasis on technical training, information literacy instruction, local college needs, and marketing the library’s collections and services.
• Participate in semiannual KCTCS Library Peer Team meetings, in required attendance at Federation of Kentucky Academic Libraries meetings, and to participate in professional organizations.
• Familiar with Learning Management Systems, LibGuides, software for marketing, Microsoft Teams and AI products.
• Oversee local digitization projects and archival maintenance,
• Serve on assigned college and KCTCS committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned including programming events and presentations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in library science or library and information science from an ALA accredited program. Three to five years of experience in an academic library, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position. Meet professional standards and ethics that are in accordance with state regulatory statutes and/or the American Library Association (ALA) standards.
