Job Summary

The Director of Teaching and Learning leads faculty development efforts to enhance teaching effectiveness, course design, student learning, and advising support services. This role collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure courses meet quality and accessibility standards while providing ongoing support through training, instructional design guidance, and advising coordination initiatives. This is not a remote position.

Job Duties:

-Provide faculty training and professional development opportunities on effective teaching methods, course quality, advising practices, and related topics.
-Review courses to ensure compliance with MCTC and KCTCS quality standards, identify areas for improvement, and provide feedback to faculty.
-Provide instructional design support to develop or revise courses to meet or exceed MCTC and KCTCS course quality standards, ensuring alignment with KCTCS curriculum.
-Review accessibility reports and collaborate with faculty to ensure all course materials, including documents, videos, and other multimedia, are fully accessible and meet established standards.
-Support faculty in integrating relevant teaching technologies and tools into their courses, including Blackboard, publisher content, and other educational technologies.
-Serve as the primary point of contact for advising-related support and coordination, including advisor training, maintaining advising resources and communication platforms, and supporting student success initiatives.
-Stay informed about teaching practices, advising strategies, and educational technologies to share updates and effective strategies with faculty and staff.
-Provide regular progress reports and updates on teaching and learning initiatives, advising support activities, and faculty development efforts.
-Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure alignment between teaching and learning initiatives, advising support efforts, and the college’s strategic goals.
-Serve on relevant MCTC and KCTCS teams and workgroups.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree or higher and teaching experience
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and administration
-Instructional design experience, including course creation, alignment, and development for various modalities
-Experience in faculty development, including designing and delivering training programs
-Familiarity with accessibility standards including making documents, multimedia, and digital content fully accessible
-Working knowledge of Blackboard or similar Learning Management Systems (LMS)
