Salary Range: $36,534.00 - $38,961.00 (additional 0.30/hour shift differential)
Contract Term Length: 12 Months

Job Summary
Serves as a Team Lead for the facilities team and provides support for daily tasks. Mentors and trains facilities staff to ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of institutional property while supporting the facilities manager.
Job Duties:
- Provides oversight of facilities and cleaning standards in the absence of the manager and assists with daily tasks or decisions to ensure campuses remain clean, safe, and orderly.
- Oversees facilities and custodial operations during assigned shifts and, in the absence of the Facilities Manager, ensures continuity of services across assigned campus location.
- Performs and assists with custodial and facilities work as needed, including cleaning buildings and grounds, operating cleaning equipment, setting up rooms for events, performing minor maintenance, and responding to maintenance and operations (M&O) help requests.
Mentors, trains, and guides facilities staff on job duties, safety procedures, tools, and equipment.
- Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for daily facilities operations.
- Assists with loading and unloading trucks, snow and ice removal, hazardous waste handling, and emergency response activities, including fire drills. Operates equipment such as forklifts, lawn equipment, and other tools required to support facilities and grounds operations.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Technical degree related to facilities, maintenance, trades, or a related field
- 2 years of relevant custodial experience
- Basic knowledge of building and custodial maintenance practices
- Experience using cleaning equipment, tools, and supplies
- Ability to perform minor maintenance tasks and respond to maintenance or operations requests
- Ability to train, mentor, and provide work guidance to facilities staff
- Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and institutional standards
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in the absence of management
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good enough driving record to be able to be insured by the KCTCS insurance company.
- Ability to perform physical job duties, including lifting, operating equipment, and working outdoors as needed
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to function in a lead, senior, or informal leadership capacity within a facilities or custodial operations setting
- Proven capability in coordinating cleaning standards, work schedules, and shift‑based operations to maintain facility readiness
- Demonstrated skill in instructing and guiding staff on safety procedures, proper equipment use, and completion of daily work assignments
- Familiarity with facilities management systems or help desk/work order systems
- Experience operating forklifts, lawn equipment, or snow removal equipment
- Knowledge of safety protocols, hazardous waste handling, and emergency response procedures
- Previous experience in a community college setting
Additional Skills Requested:
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Primarily use close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
