Job Summary
The Graphic Design Coordinator provides creative and web services to the college community, leadership in graphic design and motion graphics, and promotion and maintenance of a consistent brand image and voice in all visual media. Performs a variety of duties in the production of documents and publications, including graphic design, concept development, and layout for offset and digital printing; collaborates with client on concepts to produce workable production pieces. The coordinator reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Public Relations, Marketing and Admissions.
Job Duties:
- Serves as the graphic designer for the College, interpreting customer needs and creating original artwork for various digital and print media projects.
- Provides conceptual/production design for print, social media, and marketing collateral materials and displays; collaborates with colleagues on concepts to produce workable production pieces, providing proofs, and submitting jobs for production to meet tight deadlines.
- Creates large-scale projects and marketing materials including, but not limited to, Advisory and Foundation Board reports, media guides, digital forms, newsletters, external community publications, and campaigns utilized for public information and recruitment for the college; creates graphics for web use, designs web headers and ads to be used for digital advertisement and usage on college websites.
- Assist the Creative Services Coordinator and Digital Marketing Coordinator with processing and editing all photography as needed. Organize, catalog, and tag photos on SharePoint, Teams, and Flickr as needed.
- Create print-ready and web-ready files from existing designs and new creative concepts.
- Prepare drafts of materials based on the assigned job.
- Serves as a department liaison on specifications for projects, materials needed, and deadlines.
- Works with outside vendors in the completion of jobs, including file setup, proofing, and approvals.
- Update and maintain archive and graphic libraries for use by BCTC Marketing and all other college employees.
- Develop procedures, processes, schedules, and deadlines, so that graphic design projects are produced in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner with high-quality results.
- Supervise Graphic Assistant student workers.
- Develop branded templates by which colleagues with little or no experience can produce high-quality printed materials instantly recognizable as part of BCTC.
- Provide graphic design support and leadership to all college marketing personnel.
- Assist Bluegrass college community with the application of brand guidelines throughout communications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (in a related field) or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Digital imaging, offset and digital printing processes.
- Design concepts including, but not limited to, color, balance, fonts, and layout.
- Branding concepts.
- A diverse range of software used in desktop publishing and graphic design work, including Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office products.
- Methods and techniques of designing and producing a wide range of marketing materials and publications. Methods and techniques of creating visual content for the web and social media
- Knowledge of video production and editing a plus
- Working knowledge of HTML for websites, email, and design best practices
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Creative problem-solving skills
Additional Skills Requested:
- High Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Competency in photography shooting, composition, and editing
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete by target dates while working within the parameters of the brand style guide and maintaining attention to detail and consistency.
- Online portfolio and/or provide samples of graphic design work
