Job Summary

Big Sandy Community and Technical College in Eastern Kentucky is seeking qualified applicants for a Nursing Instructor. The ability to effectively work with a team in providing nursing education to Practical Nursing students and Associate Degree Nursing students is essential for success in this position.

This position is a 10-month annual renewable faculty contract position.

Job Duties:

• Participates in instructional presentation and delivery; the planning and designing of instructional programs;       instructional evaluation and assessment.
• Assists in the design and update of course syllabi, curriculum review, revision and development.
• Maintains records and reports on student learning.
• Incorporates latest instructional technologies and interactive learning technologies in course delivery.
• Assumes a participative role in supporting and promoting the mission, goals and objectives of the College by     performing the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the leadership of the department, division, and   College.
• Will be responsible for supplemental teaching in clinical and skills laboratory each semester.
• Recruits students for the program, provides student advising, assists in student placement, and monitors student     performance.
• Keeps regular posted office hours and provides quality customer service to students, faculty and staff.
• Participates in faculty committees, internal & external service, professional development, and other activities, as   assigned.
• May be required to teach evening, weekend, or at other campus locations as the need arises.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in a professional nursing education program approved by a state board of nursing.
• Current active, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Kentucky or the ability to obtain license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
• Certified Nurse Educator (CNE)

Additional Skills Requested:

• Experience in classroom and clinical teaching, curriculum design and use of technology, is essential to this position.
• Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills; demonstrated evidence of a career that includes flexibility   and willingness to change; open-mindedness, fairness and the ability to see multiple perspectives; a willingness to   take  risks, and willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
• Candidates should have the knowledge and desire to teach in a college environment where student learning is   emphasized.
