Job Summary

Provides targeted instruction in Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education, ESL, and GED® test preparation and administers formal and informal assessments. Warren County Kentucky Adult Education (KYAE) Program.
***Must be able to work day and evening hours (mainly evening)***

Job Duties:

Reports directly to the Director of Adult Education and provides multi-level, multi-subject instruction to students at community-based locations through in-person and online formats. Responsible for the following:
• Provides targeted instruction in Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education, ESL, and GED® test preparation and administers formal and informal assessments.
• Provides contextualized, academic and workplace education to adult students 18 years and older, including instruction in literacy, adult basic education, ESL, GED® test preparation (Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts) and workforce preparation.
• Plans, implements, documents, and evaluates instructional practices, procedures, and materials for assigned classes and incorporates technology and digital tools into instructional delivery.
• Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic assessments for adult students.
• Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies.
• Formally and informally assesses and monitors learning and maintains student records.
• Provides classroom management.
• Maintains lesson plans and syllabi for each course taught.
• Adheres to all Kentucky Skills U, Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, and Warren County Regional Jail policies and procedures, including fulfilling professional development.
• Participates in recruitment, retention, and follow-up activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and two years related experience required; degree in education or content-related field is preferred. Score of NRS level 6 in Reading on the TABE A 11/12 assessment. Successfully attains the Kentucky Employability Skills Certificate (KESC). Successfully earns a passing GED Ready score in subject areas being taught. Must be able to work day and evening hours. Instructors must be digitally literate and proficient in using digital tools for communication, professional learning, and instruction. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching adult education classes and is knowledgeable of reading, writing, and math instructional strategies. Experience working with Kentucky Adult Education Reporting System (KAERS). Knowledge of the TABE and GED Ready procedures.
