Job Summary

Big Sandy Community and Technical College is accepting applications for Project Navigator (Student Support Specialist IV). This grant funded position serves as the primary student success liaison for the Workforce Solutions Fast Track Academy and is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and providing comprehensive case management services to students enrolled in online workforce training programs. The Navigator helps students successfully complete enrollment requirements, remain engaged in coursework, overcome barriers to completion, and connect with employment opportunities.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, relationship-focused, and passionate about supporting students and strengthening workforce development efforts.

Job Duties:

Student Recruitment and Outreach
· Recruit prospective students into Workforce Solutions programs.
· Attend community events, career fairs, workforce meetings, and recruitment activities.
· Build strong relationships with prospective and current students.
· Promote workforce training opportunities, career pathways, and employer connections.

Enrollment and Student Support
· Assist students with application and enrollment processes.
· Ensure required documentation is accurately completed and submitted.
· Maintain organized student records and case management documentation.
· Collaborate with staff to ensure accurate enrollment tracking and reporting.

Case Management
· Provide proactive, student-centered support throughout program participation.
· Communicate regularly through phone, email, text, and in-person meetings.
· Identify barriers to student success and coordinate support services.
· Maintain detailed records of student interactions, progress, and interventions.
· Recommend appropriate interventions to improve student retention and completion.
· Inform SOAR staff of any obstacles impacting student success.

Student Progress Monitoring
· Monitor participation and progress in online coursework.
· Identify at-risk students and implement early intervention strategies.
· Provide encouragement, accountability, and guidance to support completion.
· Review student performance data and contribute to strategies for continuous improvement.

Employer and Community Engagement
· Develop and maintain relationships with employers, workforce partners, and community organizations.
· Coordinate employer presentations, workshops, networking events, and hiring activities.
· Assist students with employment readiness and job placement opportunities.
· Track employment outcomes and workforce placement success.

Data and Reporting
· Maintain accurate student and program records.
· Assist with data collection, reporting, and performance tracking.
· Participate in program review meetings and support outcome-based decision-making.
· Analyze trends and contribute recommendations for program improvement.

Other Duties
· Frequent travel throughout the service area.
· Attendance at community events, employer meetings, and workforce activities.
· Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Education, Workforce Development, Social Services, Business, or a related field or equivalent       experience.
· Minimum of six years of experience in a related field.
· Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
· Experience in student services, advising, workforce development, recruitment, case management, or related areas.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
· Strong organizational and time management abilities.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data management systems.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience working with adult learners or non-traditional students.
· Familiarity with online learning platforms.
· Knowledge of regional workforce development needs and trends.
· Experience partnering with employers and industry representatives.
