Job Summary

The Ready to Work (RTW) Program serve pre-college, college, and post-college students who are receiving Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (K-TAP) benefits.

The programs can help with:
•Paid work experience on and off campus
•Counseling, advising, and mentoring
•Referrals to community resources
•Job references and referrals
•Job readiness, life skills, and academic success seminars

The work-study component of Ready to Work provides work opportunities on both on-campus and off-campus through work-study programs. Students in the programs gain work experience while earning extra income that will not reduce their K-TAP benefits. The placement of work-study students with both private and non-profit employers helps prepare them for the workplace by allowing them to gain work experience, job retention skills and earn extra income.

Job Duties:

On-campus: working in student service offices, labs, and various other campus departments.
Off-campus: working in local elementary schools, small businesses, non-profit businesses, and various community service positions. All work assignments are aimed at the student's area of study for on-the-job experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be eligible for the Ready to Work Program, students must be enrolled in school and receive K-TAP benefits.

Health Career Coordinator/Student Support Specialist

Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College is seeking a Health Career Coordinator/Student Support Specialist II to support the Southeast Kentucky Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in Hazard, Kentucky. This position is responsible for developing and coordinating healthcare career exploration and educational opportunities for middle school, high school, and post-secondary students, fostering interest in healthcare professions and helping build the future healthcare workforce in eastern Kentucky. The Southeast Kentucky Area Health Education Center (AHEC) works to improve access to quality healthcare by enhancing the supply, and distribution of healthcare professionals through strong community and academic partnerships. Serving sixteen counties across eastern Kentucky, Southeast Kentucky AHEC offers a variety of programs and services designed to strengthen the healthcare workforce pipeline. Through initiatives such as health career awareness programs, rural clinical rotation experiences, and educational outreach in local school systems, AHEC encourages students to pursue careers in healthcare. The organization also supports healthcare professionals and communities by providing continuing education opportunities and medical library services through Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center. This position is based in Hazard, Kentucky, and will serve the Southeast Kentucky AHEC region. This is a grant funded position that ends 04/30/2027 with an extension to 2029?

System Director of Safety & Emergency Services (Manager IV- Safety)

Provides operational leadership, direction, and training to the staff of the Division of Safety and Emergency Services and KCTCS college employees involved in the office's functional areas; Responsible for the coordination of plans and programs that protect lives and property, prevents accidents and incidents, and preserves the learning environment and business operations of KCTCS; all KCTCS Environmental Health and Safety, Crisis Management, Title IX Compliance related to safety and security, and System Office security, safety, and environmental management Services. During an emergency, maintain a command center for monitoring and managing the emergency operations; and other duties as assigned. Coordinates efforts of Safety and Security managers at system colleges to jointly develop system wide security and safety initiatives. Regularly engage with Safety and Security managers system wide to ensure effective and timely support of system Safety and Security enterprise. This position will focus on hazard-based risk identification, mitigation, and controls. The Director of Safety and Emergency Services will also provide support and expertise to KCTCS college representatives and local, state, and federal partners.
