Job Summary

The Ready to Work (RTW) Program serves SCC students who are receiving Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (K-TAP) benefits in the following Kentucky counties: Adair, Casey, Clay, Clinton, Cumberland, Jackson, Knox, Laurel, Lincoln, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell, Wayne, and Whitley. The program offers work opportunities on and off campus through a work-study program. Participants gain work experience while earning extra income that will not reduce their K-TAP benefits. The placement of work-study students in their fields of study with both private and non-profit employers helps prepare them for the workplace and often leads to full-time employment.

Types of Jobs

  • On-campus: working in student service offices, labs, office assistant, testing monitor, building maintenance, and various other campus departments.
  • Off-campus: working in local elementary schools, small businesses, senior citizens centers, as thrift store attendants, in non-profit businesses, and various community service positions.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Ready to Work Program, students must receive K-TAP (Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program) benefits.
