Job Summary
The Academic Advisor II will lead efforts to re-engage career and technical education students who have stopped attending KCTCS before completing their credentials, with a focus on those who have accumulated stranded credits. This position supports these students by providing personalized outreach, advising, and guidance, while connecting them to their preferred KCTCS campus and community resources to help them overcome barriers and complete their credential.
Positions with the KCTCS System Office located in Versailles, KY are term-contract positions, with the expectancy of continuance based on performance.
KCTCS offers a hybrid work schedule with a requirement to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per work week. Hybrid work schedules are subject to periodic review and may be modified or terminated at any time.
Job Duties:
Outreach and Engagement: Develop and implement targeted outreach campaigns to identify and engage former career and technical education students who have not completed their credentials. Create personalized messaging and utilize various communication methods (email, phone, text) with a focus on those with outstanding credits. Partner with KCTCS marketing, 3rd party stakeholders, and college staff to ensure efforts are coordinated, wide-ranging, and effectively promote the program.
Student Support: Provide individualized guidance to returning career and technical education students regarding academic planning, financial aid options, and college re-entry processes. Assist CTE students in resolving issues related to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), work and learn programs, academic probation, including helping students understand updated program requirements, explore comparable credential options, and create a new academic plan aligned with current offerings and career goals. Help connect CTE students with support resources such as childcare, food assistance, transportation, and mental health services. Once re-enrolled, transition students to campus-based advisors for continued support.
Data Management and Reporting: Collaborate with KCTCS data teams to identify eligible students, track outreach and advising outcomes, and monitor progress. Maintain detailed records to inform institutional strategy and share updates with stakeholders and grant funders.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of relevant experience or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree and six (6) years of relevant experience or equivalent.
Additional Skills Requested:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust and rapport with adult learners.
Knowledge of higher education systems, especially community colleges and transfer pathways.
Understanding of FERPA regulations and student privacy guidelines.
Familiarity with financial aid processes, credit for prior learning, and academic probation procedures.
Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) tools, student information systems, or case management software.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across departments.
Problem-solving and resource navigation skills to support students with complex challenges (e.g., housing insecurity, childcare, mental health).
