Job Summary
This Academic Support Specialist V position provides leadership and coordination for the development, review, and maintenance of academic curriculum across the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. The position is responsible for ensuring that curriculum processes are consistent, efficient, and aligned with system-wide priorities, state mandates, and accrediting standards.
The position also serves as a primary administrative liaison to the KCTCS Faculty Senate Curriculum Review Committee (CRC), working in close collaboration with system leadership, Council on Postsecondary Education's (CPE) to direct key academic processes and uphold shared governance. Additionally, this role functions as one of the key system administrators for the curriculum management software (CourseLeaf), leading system configuration, user support, and process optimization.
This position plays a critical leadership role in supporting KCTCS curriculum governance, managing the end-to-end lifecycle of academic program proposals through all stages of the Shared Governance workflow.
Positions with the KCTCS System Office located in Versailles, KY are term-contract positions, with the expectancy of continuance based on performance.
KCTCS offers a hybrid work schedule with a requirement to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per work week. Hybrid work schedules are subject to periodic review and may be modified or terminated at any time.
Job Duties:
Leads and facilitates system-wide academic curriculum development and approval processes, providing strategic oversight and expert guidance to college faculty and administrators. Serves as the primary facilitator for the system Curriculum Review Committee (CRC), ensuring alignment with academic priorities, accreditation standards, and state regulatory requirements.
Provides leadership and coordination for the General Education discipline specific Curriculum Committees, ensuring alignment of system-wide general education initiatives with statewide academic policy and quality standards. Facilitates the implementation and integration of the KCTCS Curriculum and Alignment Framework and work related to embedding the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education's (CPE) 10 Essential Skills Framework.
Provides strategic leadership and subject matter expertise in the development, implementation, and administration of the CourseLeaf curriculum management system. Oversees system-wide configuration, integration with PeopleSoft, and continuous optimization of curriculum workflows through CourseLeaf. Leads planning and execution of major software updates, system testing and new module implementations. Advises academic leadership on technology-driven curriculum solutions and cross-system functionality enhancements. Actively engages in ongoing professional development, including participation in the annual CourseLeaf conference and completion of CourseLeaf Certified Professional training, ensuring system alignment with national best practices and emerging technologies.
Provides system-level support and coordination for Transitional and Developmental Education curriculum committees, with a focus on Math, Writing, and Reading disciplines. Collaborates with faculty leaders and academic administrators to guide curricular discussions, ensure alignment with system goals, and support quality improvement in foundational education across KCTCS colleges. Monitors CPE updates to college admissions standards that will impact KCTCS Assessment and Placement policy. Serves on KCTCS Team participating in CPE Admission updates and communicates pending changes that will impact KCTCS Assessment and Placement policy and Academic Requirement coding in PeopleSoft.
Serves as a core member of the Provost's Office team supporting the KCTCS Faculty Promotion and Appeal processes, ensuring consistent implementation of system-wide procedures in alignment with KCTCS policy, legal guidance, and academic standards. Collaborates closely with college and System Office leadership, and the Office of General Counsel to provide guidance, documentation support, and oversight for the promotion and appeal workflows.
Serves as a key member of the Provost's Office team supporting KCTCS Faculty Senate governance and operations, contributing to the planning, coordination, and facilitation of system-wide Faculty Senate processes. Leads or co-leads efforts related to annual meeting schedules, communication and logistics, orientation and onboarding of new faculty senators, and recognition efforts such as certificates of appreciation. Supports shared governance by ensuring effective collaboration between Faculty Senate leadership, system administration, and college representatives. Coordinates and delivers annual orientation and targeted training to enhance understanding of Senate roles, responsibilities, and procedural requirements, fostering consistency and engagement across all KCTCS colleges and System Office.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Higher Education, Technical Education, Workforce Development, Curriculum Design, Adult Learning and five (5) years of relevant experience or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral Degree in Higher Education, Technical Education, Workforce Development, Curriculum Design, Adult Learning and seven (7) years of relevant experience or equivalent.
