Job Summary
The Vice President of Data Strategy and Innovation at Bluegrass Community and Technical College will be responsible for overseeing the development, management, and optimization of the institution’s data strategies, policies, and governance. This role is pivotal in ensuring that data is used effectively to enhance institutional decision-making, improve student outcomes, and support the college’s mission of providing high-quality education and services to the community. The VP of DSI is responsible for overseeing the college’s accreditation processes, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and maintaining accreditation status with relevant accrediting agencies. This position is also responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies for grant writing, reporting, and compliance. The Vice President of Data Strategy and Innovation will collaborate with college leadership, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to implement data-driven solutions that foster institutional growth and improve operational efficiency.
Job Duties:
Data Strategy and Governance:
- Lead the development and execution of the college’s data strategy, aligning data initiatives with institutional goals.
Ensure policies and practices to maintain data integrity, privacy, security, and compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA).
- Manage the college's data architecture, ensuring efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis of data across departments.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Promote and support a culture of data-driven decision-making across all levels of the institution.
- Provide executive leadership with actionable insights and recommendations using data analytics and visualization tools.
- Develop metrics and performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of programs, services, and initiatives.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with academic and administrative departments to understand data needs and ensure the availability of accurate and timely data for reporting and analysis.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for data-related issues and provide training and support to staff and faculty on data tools and systems.
- Collaborate with external partners, including system, state, and federal agencies, to ensure compliance with data reporting and contribute to higher education data initiatives.
Data Infrastructure and Technology:
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of data systems and technologies, including databases, business intelligence tools, and data warehouses.
- Identify opportunities for enhancing the college's data infrastructure to improve accessibility, usability, and scalability.
- Ensure the effective integration of data from diverse sources, such as student information systems, learning management systems, and financial systems.
- Monitor key trends in higher education data, policy, and technology, and recommend strategies for adapting to emerging opportunities or challenges.
Accreditation Management:
- Lead and coordinate all activities related to maintaining and renewing the college’s accreditation with regional, national, and program-specific accrediting bodies.
- Monitor accreditation requirements and ensure the college is in compliance with standards set by accrediting agencies.
- Coordinate the collection and analysis of institutional data to support accreditation reporting and ensure that evidence of compliance is well-documented.
Grant Strategy and Leadership:
- Lead the development and execution of the college’s overall grant strategy, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and goals.
- Lead efforts to identify and research new funding opportunities from federal, state, local, and private sources, and match them to the college’s programs and needs.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key grant-making organizations, government agencies, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Ensure all grant-funded projects adhere to funding guidelines, including timelines, budgets, and performance metrics.
- Foster a culture of grant-seeking within the college by encouraging faculty and staff to explore funding opportunities and develop proposals.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
- Build capacity within the institution to leverage data through professional development, training programs, and resources.
- Ensure team members have the necessary skills, tools, and resources to perform their roles effectively.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in data management, reporting processes, and analysis methods.
- Drive innovation in the use of data to improve student success, retention, and operational efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s degree in data science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data management, analytics, or information technology, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
