Job Summary

Jefferson Community and Technical College Adult Education department has an opening for a grant funded Adult Education Specialist II to serve Shelby Counties. This position will work days and two evenings per week.

Job Duties:

The primary responsibilities are:
• Provide GED, college transition, certificate training and Adult Basic Education contextualized instruction at the learning centers as well as local jails and prisons.
• Prepare class materials, syllabus, course outlines and homework activities as appropriate to ensure students are improving learning as well as earning their GED.
• Use appropriate materials contextualized and aligned to content areas.
• Provide instruction in a variety of subjects (Math, Social Studies, Science and Language Arts)
• Administers student’s assessments according to test publishers and vendors guidelines as needed in the prisons and local jails.
• Ensure homework, and distance-learning forms are collected and completed accurately.
• Follow JCTC, KYAE and DOC policies and procedures displaying professionalism at all times.
• Communicate with co-workers as well as Director to ensure program success.
• Professional Development as required
• Others duties as assigned by Jefferson Community and Technical College Adult Education Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required (Education or related field preferred), and two years related experience or equivalent for experience only. Should place in NRS level 6 TABE 13/14. The preferred candidate would possess a knowledge of community resources and organizations within Shelby, as well as surrounding counties. The individual must be comfortable multi-tasking and organized. This position requires the ability to work in a culturally diverse environment, which consist of frequent contact with a diverse constituency of students, faculty, staff, and the public.
