Salary Range: $2,640 - $3,449 per month

Contract Term Length: 12 Months

Job Summary

The BCTC Safety and Security Department (SSD) ensures that all safety and security functions for the college are completed in accordance with Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) business procedures and in compliance with all State and Federal statutes and regulations. The department is also responsible for development and implementation of programs related to all hazards, emergency response, emergency management, incident management, hazardous materials, safety, and security including necessary documentation and reporting (i.e. Annual Report for the Clery and Minger Acts and hazardous waste reports). Personnel within this department are often required to be available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Work hours 7:00am – 3:00pm with some weekend shifts required.

The Campus Security Supervisor position within the SSD provides overall safety and security services for the assigned campus. The Supervisor, on a regular basis, fulfills duties as a Security Officer and assumes additional responsibilities related to the supervision of other SSD personnel at the assigned campus to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the local branch of the BCTC SSD.

Job Duties:

  • Patrol campus grounds and monitor surveillance systems to ensure safety, secure restricted areas, respond to incidents, and document daily activities, report unusual occurrences to the Director of Safety and Security.
  • Enforce parking regulations by conducting routine patrols of parking facilities and issuing citations as needed.
  • Investigate theft, property damage, and incidents, collaborating with local law enforcement and ensuring all reports are completed and submitted properly.
  • Enforce the Student Code of Conduct and address behavioral violations in coordination with college divisions.
  • Supervise and schedule contract security staff, track time/attendance, and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Monitor and respond to fire and security alarms, assess control panels, investigate causes, coordinate repairs, and document all activity.
  • Lead campus emergency response efforts as Crisis Management Team Coordinator and Incident Commander; conduct fire drills and emergency training exercises.
  • Maintain partnerships with local emergency agencies, and stay trained in NIMS, ICS, CPR/First Aid/AED, and campus emergency protocols.
  • Oversee building access coordination including distribution and management of keys and access cards in collaboration with appropriate personnel.
  • Inspect and maintain safety and security equipment (e.g., AEDs), coordinate repairs/replacements, and ensure readiness.
  • Ensure team compliance with OSHA and safety-related training, including hazardous materials, bloodborne pathogens, and communication protocols.
  • Prepare and submit all required reports (incident, monthly activity, Clery/Minger Act compliance), participate in daily radio checks, and maintain up-to-date safety communications for campus stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma and a year related experience, or equivalent. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's Degree and three years experience or equivalent

  • Must be available 24/7 and on weekends for on-call emergency situations.

  • Knowledge of general security responsibilities and emergency procedures.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Software such as MS Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, & PowerPoint.

  • Personal and professional integrity with attention to detail.

  • Must have good communication and interaction skills.
