Job Summary
Owensboro Community and Technical College is hiring a full-time 10-month Psychology Instructor. This position provides instruction in undergraduate general education psychology courses using a variety of teaching methods. Classes may include in-person, online, and hybrid modes of instruction. Primary teaching assignments will include General Psychology and Developmental Psychology with the possibility of other lower division courses. This position reports to the Department Head of Mathematics, Sciences, and Social Sciences.
Job Duties:
• Deliver engaging and effective instruction for psychology courses according to specified learning outcomes in a variety of modalities to include in-person, hybrid, and online.
• Teach 15 credit hours per semester (30 credit hours annually across fall and spring). Assignments may include courses across multiple campuses based on student needs.
• Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and support students in achieving academic success.
• Complete Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) reports promptly.
• Maintain accessibility for students by holding regular office hours and communicate availability through appropriate channels.
• Engage in active recruitment and retention activities through programming at secondary schools, community partners, and professional organizations.
• Coordinate student externship sites and oversee student placement and performance assessment.
• Maintain current knowledge of psychology and educational methodologies through continuing professional development.
• Participate in faculty professional development activities to include employer sponsored training.
• Participate in college committees, assigned work groups, and attend college, division, and department meetings.
• Participate in community service activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree with 18 graduate hours of coursework in Psychology
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two years of prior teaching experience preferred.
• Experience with instructional technologies, including presentation software and learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard-Ultra).
• Some graduate hours preferred in Research Methods.
