Title: Lineman Instructor

Salary Range: $70,000 plus the opportunity to earn $10-20,000 more by teaching lineman CDL classes.

Contract Term Length: 12 Months

Standard Hours: 37.50

Job Summary

Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC) is seeking a qualified and motivated instructor to join our Lineman Training Program. This position plays a key role in preparing students for careers in the electrical utility industry through hands-on training, classroom instruction, and a strong commitment to safety and professionalism.

Job Duties:

Teaching high quality instruction following the JCTC Lineman course curriculum.
Maintain extensive knowledge of and compliance with the Electrical Utility Safety Rules and procedures.
Oversee and maintain program equipment and lab facilities and complete necessary reports and documentation .
Recruit, advise, and mentor students, providing guidance on program expectations and career opportunities in the lineman field. 
Stay current in discipline knowledge, industry trends, and instructional techniques  to ensure effective traching purposes.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED

Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience as a Lineman in the electrical utility industry•

Current CDL-A license

The instructor will teach four eight-week sessions throughout the year, with two-week breaks from teaching between sessions. No classes are held in December or January. Classes meet Monday thru Thursday. The 2026 class sessions are scheduled to begin in February, May, July, and September.

Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills

Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent JCTC’s Lineman Training Center in a professional and courteous manner when engaging with students, parents, and industry partners

Ability to deliver course content using a variety of instructional methods and mediums
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Hold a valid Lineman Journeyman Card
Previous experience in a classroom or instructional training setting

Additional Skills Requested:

Physical Requirements: Regularly involves lifting, bending, or other physical exertions-often exposed to disagreeable environmental elements
