Job Summary

West Kentucky Community & Technical College (WKCTC), recognized as a top 10 community college in the nation by The Aspen Institute five consecutive times and three times as a Finalist with Distinction, invites applications for the position of Automotive Technology Program Coordinator. WKCTC is a comprehensive community college that provides excellence in teaching a learning, promotes student success, and supports economic development.

Job Duties:

The program coordinator is responsible for the day to day operations of the Automotive Technology program and works collaboratively with the Dean, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Vice President of Student Affairs and the President. The program coordinator assists in the planning and effectiveness evaluation, development, and implementation of program goals. The program coordinator is a key individual in the program institutional effectiveness program.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of classes in the Automotive Technology related fields and will coordinate with other instructors and lab support staff to assure the success of the students.

Additional faculty workload includes:
- Community Service
- Various departmental activities that may include course development and evaluation
- Mentoring adjunct faculty
- Student outcome assessment

Minimum Qualifications:

Faculty should possess a baccalaureate or associate degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. In lieu of the associate degree, alternative qualifications such as related work experience in the field, professional licensure and certifications related to the teaching assignment, honors and awards, continuing professional development, documented excellence in teaching, and/or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes will be considered.

A minimum of five years current experience as an automotive technician is required. 

Preferred Qualifications:

ASE Credentials in Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Automobile Service Technology, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Engine Performance & Repair, Heating & Air Conditioning, Maintenance & Light Repair, Manual Drive Train & Axles, and Suspension & Steering preferred

- Patience, resilience, and cultural sensitivity
- Ability to create instructional materials for lectures and labs
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and other technology
- Ability to integrate science with other subjects
- Encourage scientific thinking
- Create assessments in accordance with learning outcomes
