Job Summary

Jefferson Community and Technical College is seeking candidates for a Campus Safety and Security Supervisor. This position is for 2nd shift (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm). Candidates will be responsible for providing on-going visual inspection by foot, bike, and/or vehicle patrols, completing incident, accident and injury reports as needed and providing other security services to maintain a safe, secure campus environment for students, staff, faculty and visitors.

Job Duties:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervised daily operations of 2nd shift security officers, including attendance management, hiring support, performance evaluations, training, and disciplinary actions, and personnel recommendations.
  • Responsible for providing on-going visual inspection by foot, bike, and/or vehicle patrols, completing incident, accident and injury reports as needed and providing other security services to maintain a safe, secure campus environment for students, staff, faculty and visitors.
  • Completes incident, accident and injury reports as needed. Gathers supporting documentation for all reports and relays information to all parties involved while ensuring confidentiality and adhering to FERPA and HIPAA policies and guidelines.
  • Provides directions and general campus information to the campus community and when requested, provides escort service between cars and worksite as requested by Faculty, Staff and Students.
  • Assists with campus crisis situations, with building evacuations, drills, etc. as needed and monitors parking facilities, insuring only authorized vehicles parked in restricted areas; issues citations as needed.
  • Maintain certification of required departmental, JCTC and KCTCS training.  The candidates will receive extensive security related training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Campus Safety Director.

Strong leadership skills. Self-motivated. Proficient in report writing. Understanding different cultural dynamics and able to adapt quickly. Basic to intermediate security knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications:

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED 

Preferred Qualifications:

This position requires the supervision of 8 employees.
