Job Summary
Working collaboratively with the Program Coordinator and the Regional Director of Adult Education, the AE Instructor provides targeted instruction in Adult Basic Education and administers diagnostic assessments. The AE Instructor reports to the Program Coordinator and the Regional Director of Adult Education.
Job Duties:
Provides College and Career Ready Standards instruction for adult education curriculum.
Develops instruction that targets GED content for Math, Language Arts Reading, Social Studies, and Science. Additionally, English Language Acquisition instruction for non-English speakers may be required.
Develops competencies that ensure students develop independent learning skills, have a wealth of knowledge in other content areas, adapt their skills to varied situations, use technology, integrate workplace skills, and understand other perspectives and cultures.
Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic assessments for adult students.
Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies.
Assesses and monitors learning.
Provides classroom management.
Maintains lesson plans and syllabi for each course taught.
Participates in professional development required by Kentucky Skills U.
Participates in retention and follow-up activities.
Position requires availability for day and evening instruction (2 evenings). Additionally, this position will require correction education at both the Fayette and Scott County detention center.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and two years related work experience, or equivalent.
Score of NRS level 6 in Reading, Language, and Math on the TABE A 13/14 assessment (administered after hiring by BCTC Adult Education).
Successfully earns a passing GED Ready score in subject area(s) being taught (administered after hiring by BCTC Adult Education).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching adult education classes.
Experience working with Kentucky Adult Education Reporting System (KAERS) and MyOneFlow.
