Job Summary

Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College is seeking an instructor to teach all aspects of Computerized Manufacturing & Machining.

Instructional responsibilities include all aspects of Computerized Manufacturing and Machining, including but not limited to: safety; cutting tools; attachments and accessories for machine tools; and material selection and machining specifications applicable to the setup and operation of CNC mills and lathes using both G-code and conversational programming. Instruction also includes manual mills and lathes, surface grinders, bench work, drill press operations, waterjet machining, blueprint reading for machinists, and metrology.

This is a 10-month faculty position on the Harlan Campus with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026.

Job Duties:

1. Plans and carries out instruction and instructional activities and prepares learning materials for special study including training programs to meet the needs of local industry.
2. Provides instruction to students in both theory and practice of the various aspects of Computerized Manufacturing and Machining and related subject areas.
3. Prepares lesson plans and maintains records and reports on students’ attainment and progress. Provides academic advising to CMM students and develops program schedules for the academic year.
4. Plans, develops and implements Workplace Organization (5s) Standards that insure daily housekeeping and organization in classroom and laboratory areas.
5. Maintains order and discipline in classroom and laboratory.
6. Ensures that appropriate safety policies and procedures are developed and implemented in the laboratory.
7. Maintains Computerized Manufacturing and Machining equipment and makes purchase recommendations to ensure properly equipped laboratories.
8. Reports inventory and ordering of supplies to Computerized Manufacturing and Machining Technology program coordinator or designee.
9. Participates in professional development activities to improve teaching skills and technical expertise in the area taught.
10. Implements 5s methodology into student expectations to assure a clean, organized, and safe working/learning environment.
11. Provides follow-up services to assist in student placement, improve courses of instruction, and promote public relations.
12. Maintain Computerized Manufacturing and Machining Advisory Board that consists of local industry and partners, ensuring at least two meetings per year.


Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree OR higher, plus 4 years work experience in a CMM field. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate degree in Computerized Manufacturing and Machining along with 4 years related work experience.

Knowledge of HAAS (next gen 5 axis) Controls, Mazak (Mazatrol) Controls, and Hurco (WinMax) Controls.

Knowledge of CAM systems.
